The fiestas begin with the treading of the first grapes in Jumilla’s Plaza Mayor, which then gives way to a week of festivities and open-air parties, all related to the town’s main industrial activity; wine-tasting competition; wine cavalcade, offering of the first must, and parades of Moors and Christians. From 10/08/2012 to 19/08/2012
The Jumilla Wine Route is located in the Region of Murcia. The city of Murcia has an interesting old town, and the surrounding area produces wines which are becoming ever more recognised at a national and international level. This can be seen from the numerous prizes they have received in recent years. The town has been at a crossroads for travellers and cultures throughout history, and is home to establishments, wineries and cellars where you can discover wine culture and the importance the drink has had on Jumilla’s history.
