On every July the 28th, Valldemossa gets dressed up to celebrate the Fiestas of the Blessed Catalina Tomàs. Catherine Thomas became the patron saint for Valldemossa in 1930 and the festivities in her honor are the most important for the people of town. Hundreds of people come to Valldemossa from all over the island to see the “Carro Triomfal” (procession “La Beata”) where each year a six year old girl is chosen to represent the Santa in a procession through the main streets of the village.
This religious celebration demonstrates the popular fervor by Santa Catalina Thomas. It must be underlined the ‘carro triunfal’ with the procession of la Beata, apart from other activities as the night festival, theatre, different tournaments, open-air cinema, etc…
On every July the 28th, Valldemossa gets dressed up to celebrate the Fiestas of the Blessed Catalina Tomás. The tradition shows, year after year, a very colourful parade, with carts decked out with colour ribbons and adornments. The village’s boys and girls are a fundamental part of the event in which they have a main role and therefore sweets are offered.
